FOR CURRENT PLAYERS
What It's For: If yew want new players in yer story, this is yer best tool. New characters in the game can browse the Registry and find interesting, active stories, with current summaries and even hints for approaching and joining the scene.
How It Works:- Usually one person in a group of players will be responsible for creating and maintain a Quest Page, but anyone in the group can add to it.
- Think of a name for yer quest. It doesn't have to be brilliant; just something to identify yew as unique from the other stories.
- Click the "Create New Area" button here, titled with yer quest name.
- For yer first post, summarize. Identify the characters currently involved in the story, yer location, a brief* recap of what has occurred so far, and yer current immediate goals. (*If yew write too long a summary, yew might give new players more 'studying' than they care to swallow. This is a sales pitch! If they like it, they will read yer story on the boards.)
- Periodically, update what has occurred in yer story, where yew've gone, who has joined or departed the group, and how/if yer goals have altered or been realized. Keeping yer Quest Page up-to-date is the best way to attract new characters to join yer story!
- Another wise act is regularly to post ideas about how new characters might approach the story, places yew might meet, "roles" that are in need of filling, etc.
- Yer Quest Page also acts as an OOC area for game planning and clarifications, to keep the storyboards "clean" of excessive commenting.
- There is no minum number of characters to create a Quest Page.
- It is not mandatory to create a Quest Page.
FOR NEW PLAYERS
What It's For: If yew want to find an active group of characters to join, here's where they will make themselves known. Yew can read summaries of their quests and choose which one yew'd like to be a part of. Yew are not required to choose a story from the Halls Of Quests, but it is an excellent way to find a good group of gamemates quickly.
How It Works:- The best place to start is to browse the most recent summaries here in the Adventure Registry. Check the posting dates to make sure the story has been active recently.
- Pick one and read the summary completely!
- If yew find a story yew might want to join, read the current posts on the boards!--at least the last few dozen posts; the more the better. Yew cannot be "over-informed" but yew sure can be "under-informed." Don't try to barge into a story without knowing what's going on.
- When yew decide yew want to join a story, email the player(s) involved, as a courtesy, and ask whether yew may join them. There is no rule to exclude yew from a story, but it is only polite to "knock first."
