Worlde Arcane:
The Great Hall Of Guilds:
The Immortals
|
The Immortals are a group of fierce warriors that together make up the King's honour guard. All members of The Immortals are foreigners from afar. This is a custom since far back in time, when King Carl IV was killed by his own guards, who where followers of Carl's competitor to the Crown, Duke Philippe Griphon. Philippe was no fool: not to repeat the mistake of his successor, he reorganised the honour guard so that there was a minimal chance of them betraying him. He did so by recruiting men who had no connections to Daelows whatsoever. They came from Isle Obscura, Thapelel, Noitnetta, and other areas of the Worlde. They were often not Uman, because other races, such as Dwarves and Elves, were less prone to accept bribes or succumb to treachery. The Immortals carry no special uniform, but they all wear a breastplate of Dwarven design marked with the Royal insignia. Anyone wishing to join this august group of elite soldiers must meet the following requirements:
Upon acceptance, the King of Daelows shall be pleased to provide each recruit to the Immortals with a suit of plate armour, a sword, and a stipend, as well as free room and board at Daelows Castle. Should travel be required, the retinue shall take care of all expenses. Leave of thirty days shall be granted each year, subject to cancellation in time of war or national emergency. To petition for membership, contact King Albion or Cassius Efrim. |
