House Silverblade

Background: House Silverblade is the current reigning Royal House of the Kingdom of Daelows, headed by King Albion Silverblade, brother of the late King Finwald Silverblade, and veteran of the several years civil war within Daelows. The only other known Silverblade is the Princess Ariana Silverblade, daughter of Finwald, niece of Albion and next in line for the throne should Albion fail to produce an heir.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- House Silverblade is pleased to accept applications for service in the following: The Immortals, a group of fierce warriors that together make up the Kings honour guard. All members of The Immortals are foreigners from afar. This is a custom since far back in time, when King Carl IV was killed by his own guards who where followers of Carl's competitor to the Crown , Duke Philippe Griphon. Philippe was no fool, and to not repeat the mistake of his successor, he re-organised the honour guard so that there was a minimal chance of them betraying him. He did so by recruiting men that had no connections to Daelows whatsoever. They came from Isle Obscura, Thapelel, Noitnetta and other areas of the Worlde. They were often not uman, because other races, such as dwarves and elves, were less prone to accept bribes or succumb to treachery. The Immortals are guaranteed paid service throughout the year, and are expected to serve year around, including the accompaniament of members of House Silverblade in their travels when requested to do so. Applicants for service in this royal guard must meet the following requirements: --Cannot have been born within Daelows Kingdom --May not have any title, any lord or vassals, nor any legal obligation to another person (with the exception of a wife) --Must be an accomplished warrior, proven in battle, and expertly trained in at least two of the following weapons: Long sword, broad sword, short sword, two-handed sword, crossbow, longbow, axe, polearm, or throwing dagger. --Must provide two written references attesting to character, steadiness and courage during battle. --Must be superior specimen in size, girth, strength, and dexterity. --Must swear oath of fealty to House Silverblade. --Must be willing to remain at all times in the care and guarding of the King of Daelows or another member of the Royal Family --Shall, upon acceptance, be required to obey all orders of the King of Daelows and duly appointed officers of the Immortals, without regard to the preservation of one's own life and limbs The term of enlistment shall be for six years upon acceptance. Advancement within the ranks shall be based upon performance and demonstrated leadership abilities. Failure to abide by the terms of this agreement, failure to obey orders or conduct of an unmilitary nature shall be dealt with severely, including flogging and/or imprisonment. Desertion shall subject the deserter to court-martial, if desertion occurs while deployed in the field, the punishment may include execution by hanging or beheading. Upon acceptance, House Silverblade shall be pleased to provide each recruit to the Immortals a royal blue uniform trimmed in silver, complete set of chaimmail, boots, shield, and a primary weapon of choice, as well as free room and board at Daelows Castle and this badge To apply for membership in the Immortals, contact King Silverblade. The Royal Draymen; Includes the wagon drivers, loadmasters, and horse and mule tenders who accompany the Immortals with all needed supplies, including the hauling of seige engines and battering rams. Terms of service are the same as for the Immortals, with the exception leather armour shall be provided in place of chainmail, a short bow provided as primary weapon, and this badge To apply for membership, contact King Albion Silverblade. The Royal Livery; Includes many artisans, tutors, secretaries, carriage-drivers and footmen, grooms, accountants, tailors and dressmakers. Excellent references required. Thorough background checks will be conducted. Terms of service and pay dependent on experience and position. Upon acceptance, House Silverblade shall be pleased to provide a royal blue uniform edged in silver, matching capelet, stockings, knee boots, plus room and board and a stipend and the following badge The Royal Entertainers; includes bards, musicians, poets, dancers, jugglers, mimes, stage performers, and jesters. All positions require an audition for the King or his designee. Only superior talent need apply. Will be expected to perform at the King’s command for large, lavish court affairs, as well as for the King’s individual pleasure. Pay commensurate with talent. Costumes, as needed, will be provided, as well as the following badge The Castle Service; includes maids, stewards, cooks, porters, launderers, scullery cleaners, stablehands, common labourers, and personal servants. Some travel may be required with these positions, ability to read and write and ride a plus. Excellent references required. Thorough background checks will be conducted. Location of work and any travel required shall be at the sole discretion of the King. Pay varies with experience and position. Upon acceptance, House Silverblade shall be pleased to provide uniforms, stockings and sensible shoes, plus a good woolen winter cloak.
