Worlde Arcane: Tenara: Southern Jungles

Unexplored, untouched, and inhabitable, the Southern Jungles run from the outskirts of the port city Nevild all the way to the West River Fryn. Only a few expeditions over the centuries have ever been made into the vast area of choking wilderness; none have ever returned.

It has been said that the vines reach out and grab wanderers, bringing them high up into the canopies of the trees to be eaten alive by mammoth pythons. Exotic animals and colourful birds populate the jungle. The weather is always humid, hot, and sticky in between the daily rain showers.

The elf traveled for two more days, sleeping when he could, even in a guarded state, before finding the trail that would lead him closer to the temple.

Just as the sun began to lower behind him, he spotted the very tip top of the hidden temple. It had been nearly eighty years since he had been near the temple, and he had never been this close.

Dristen let out a thankful sigh and wiped dripping beads of sweat from his brow, his body still feeling as if he had been steaming away under the sun. The elf started into a brisk walk, wanting to at least approach the temple before the night fell.

(OOC: From: Tenara: Goethal Forest: Grass Path Between Krystal City and Nevild)

Saelyn didn't make it very far into the jungles before she was weary from travel. She had rose before dawn and now, as midday was approaching, she felt the urge to rest for the night. It was hard to find a good place in the densly populated jungles to set up camp, and so she continued on.

A few hours later she found a small clearing that would just be large enough to make a fire and curl up to sleep. She ate a quick meal, then quickly fell into a deep sleep.

Saelyn woke up as the sun just began to change the color of the night sky, and shook off a chill. The air around her was damp and left her feeling like she had slept in the rain. She pulled her cloak from her pack and wrapped it around her, waiting for the warmth to reach her skin. Then she ate a quick breakfast and tried to regain her bearings. It was always difficult for her, in the jungle, to ascertain which direction was which. Soon, the morning sun had her oriented and she began again through the jungle, making slow time.

The elf began his treck into the jungles in the early morning hours. He had to slowly make his way as many twisted vines hung from low hanging branches and no trail was yet in sight.

He walked to the northwest, hoping to make his way into Goethal Forest by the next coming day.

By the late afternoon, a blanket of gray clouds began to build over the jungle. The clap of thunder, all to familiar to the residents of the landscape, rumbled with ease overhead.

The elf, as he walked slowly, cutting through vegetation as he needed, looked up to see the showers forming. Dristen searched around the area, finally finding a tree that hosted a canopy of thick leaves and vine up above just as the patter of a heavy shower rained down to the ground.

He would wait the rain out, not wanting to be endreneched to only be forced to feel the humidity that would come afterwards.

He waited for at least an hour before the tropical showers faded away, then walked on soggy ground to the north-west.

By the setting of the sun, the Sylvan elf found himself in a more friendly environment. The smooth ground and tall trees of the Goethal forest were facing him, and he took off in a quick run, hoping to gain good way as he headed for Nevild.
