Worlde Arcane: Aniada: Green Forest

Green Forest

Lying along the northeastern part of Aniada between the Kingdoms of Daelows and Churt is the Green Forest, a generally dense forest made up predominately of beech and oak and poplar trees. The Green Forest is abundant with wild life and game. It is frequented by the denizens of northwestern Daelows, who find it to be a major resource for gathering food.

Also, the Green Forest has recently been declared an orcish territory, owned by Churt. Few really know about this change, and no strongholds have been fully constructed, but eventually Churt's king intends to have their ownership of the forest known.

Elle had nodded in response to the correction of Shamus, but she didn't really know what he was saying, the ale had clouded her mind and sleep was the uppermost thought that stood out clearly. She drained the last of the ale in her cup and walked rather unsteadily towards her pack, where she promptly fell onto, and curling into a tiny ball, she feel fast asleep. Well, more of an unconscience type of sleep.

There was a glint of mischievious delight in Shamus' eye when he was asked what he had stolen from Mab, almost as if he could hardly wait for some to ask. "Fipher, Greely!" Shamus barked at a couple of his little men. "Tis time to bring out the guest of honor!"

Fipher and Greely smiled wide, tipped their hats, and then ran over the hill. A few minutes later they came back grunting, puffing, and overburdened. The two of them struggled under the weight of the heavy oak and glass case that was twice as big as the both of them together. The gathered crowd sighed in combined joy and awe. They set the case down before Master Greenish.

Shamus produced a key from his waistcoat and inserted it into the locking mechanism of the case before carefully opening it. With sincere reverence, Shamus lifted the object from its case. It was a long rod of gold and guilded silver. Atop one end was a diamond the size of a dwarf's fist, held in place by a platinum setting.

"Ladies and gentleman! The guest of Honor!" he held the sceptre-like instrument above his head. "Queen Mab's wand!" All the little people went absolutely insane with glee.

He followed Elle's progress towards her pack with his eyes, to make sure she reached it safely of course. It was a marvel that so much destruction could come in such a tiny person, Manuel thought, reflecting on the utter chaos she had caused that day.

Seeing that the young woman had made it to her bag quite safely and had fallen asleep he returned his full attention to where a good-sized case was being hauled. "If I had a hat, it would be off to yew, sir," Manuel laughed, upon hearing exactly what the very expensive looking object was. Fairies he'd heard stories of, and so understood the importance of the wand, but he was still at a loss as to what exactly these little people were. "But how did yew take it?"

Laos' eyes marvled at the glorious wand. Although he was amazed with it he was not tempted to steal it. when he heard Manuel's question as to how they got the wand he nodded his head looking at Shamus.

Possible plausible scenarios ran around in Geoffrey's head about how to best exorcise the demon within Laos. Should he wait? Should he do it now, while he was least expecting it? After all the longer he waited the more of a chance the demon would have to discover that Geoffrey knew its secret!

The angel somberly patted him on the shoulder. "I'll leave yew alone for a bit," he said. "Yew got alot to think about." The tutu-wearing purple, hippo angel sort of shrank in upon itself and then, in a puff of purple smoke, was gone.

The angel was right, he did have alot to think about as he stood there alone, behind the tree. he gazed around its trunk at Laos and could actually see the demon within him laughing. Geoffrey could feel his anger rising up from deep within, like a wave of caustic acid searing in his blood. "Yeah," he said to himself in words that hissed from his mouth like steam. "I've got alot to think about!"

"How'd I take it?" Shamus repeated. "Twas magick!" he grinned and winked at the thief. "I can't be givin all me secrets away to ya tallies! There's not much mystery left in tha worlde as it tis!"

Several of the tiny women came over to where Elle lie and covered her in blankets, and sang sweet songs to help her drift even deeper into a magickal slumber from which it would be very hard indeed to wake from. Their sly smiles almost gave them away if it weren't for the fact that they were out of view from the others and safe from prying eyes. Several of them began to rummage around in her sacks looking for gold.

Soon the droughts within the ale would have their desired effects upon the men as well. Just a little while longer.

Libros took a pondering pose "Hmm, theiving magick....that sounds a little useful to those of yer size, instead of having to kill yew could just simply "poof" it into yer possesion? or is it more difficult than that? hmmm, so now that yew have stolen her wadn what do yoew plan to do with it? I mean she will surely notice and what then? Will she come in a fury and try to kill all of yew?"

Though something about Shamus' answer suggested that magick had not been used to steal the wand, the half-elf was more than content to believe that it was magick. Why not?

"There are plenty of mysteries in the worlde when yew have not lived since the dawn of it," he chuckled slightly, recalling Shamus saying something about being at war with Mab since the sun first started to rise or something of the sort. Either way, he was disappointed about the lack of explaination, but was not going to push for one. It didn't seem important.

A wave of nausea suddenly hit Manuel, and the worlde began to spin a little. With an accusing glance at the half-empty flagon of ale, Manuel set the vessel on the ground beside him. Last he'd checked, he'd been able to down much more than just that. The half-elf shrugged, blaming it on his lack of sleep.

"Do not get theives and assassins confused," he said, offended by Laos' statement that had insinuated, to him at least, that theives were murderers. "All assassins are theives, but not all theives are assassins." It was true, the only difference between a theif and an assassin was what was stolen. In the question of theives, usually a material item, in the case of an assassin, something much more valuable, life.

"I'm going to check on Geoffrey," he grumbled, standing with another small wave of dizziness and walked in the direction he thought the priest had gone, though he feared what would Laos would next say to Shamus, he hoped it was not overly undiplomatic. Geoffrey been absent too long to have been answering one of nature's calls, and Manuel was slightly concerned. Anything could have happened to him in this wilderness.

Shamus gingerly put the wand back into its case and locked it. He placed the key back into his waistcoat while he listened to Laos with a frown. "Kill. Kill. Kill," he scolded the young man. "That's all ye tallies can think about methinks! It ain't right! No sir!"

He tried his hardest not to smile as he watched Manuel woozely walk in search of the large man. He wasn't too far away from sleep. But this kid and the big guy who talked to invisible angels had him worried! The biggun would take alot more ale than he drank to knock him out, and this kid was WAY too hyper! Time to pull out the stops!

"But yer right," Shamus told Laos using his vocal charm to aid him. "Queen Mab'll come a lookin fer it no doubt. But she'll have a hard time a gettin it back! Have another ale lad, ya look mighty thirsty!"

"I did not mean to imply that theives and murderers were the same..." Looking over to Manuel and watching him walk off some where.

Then he turned his attention to Shamus "I don't think of killing constantly...just a little peranoid about being attack is all and as for the ale sure, I am parched. Thankyew" As Laos finished the last of his ale.

Geoffrey sensed, rather than heard, Manuel's approach. He withdrew himself from the convoluted schemings had been in just a moment before. "How goes the party?" he asked absently. He desperately wanted to inform him of the new information Yug, in his wisdom, had imparted to him, but dared not. If he was to catch the demon within off gaurd, he couldn't allow it any idea that he knew. Manuel was a good enough guy, but he still didn't trust him enough, not yet.

"Eh," Manuel replied with a shrug. "It just isn't a party until there have been a minimum of two people involved in a brawl, with a maximum of two people that are still sober." This was said in a manner that suggested he'd just explained the type of 'party' he was used to, and wasn't really disappointed that this wasn't one of them.

"I'll tell yew one thing for sure, though," the half-elf dropped his voice to just above a whisper. These words were meant for Geoffrey's ears only, "I wouldn't trust these greenies," he'd dubbed the race of little people because of their obsession with green clothing, "any farther than I could throw them. I mean," it could be told that he was grinning at the mental image of one of the short people being tossed by the tone of his voice, "I have a hard time believing that they're just sharing all of this with us to be nice. But maybe that's just me."

These last words were followed by another attack of light-headedness. Manuel had to lean a hand against a tree for support.

"It's not the greenies that I don't trust to tell yew the truth." Geoffrey said as he gave Laos the evil eye from behind the tree. "Keep an eye on the girl would yew? I have some urgent business to attend to."

He left Manuel guessing and walked over to some of the little people who were preparing to put a pot of water on to boil. "Excuse me, but could I borrow this a moment" He didn't wait for an answer but just took it anyway. Geoffrey held his hand above it and closed his eyes to concentrate. "Yug is good. Yug is great. Yug, I sho do appreciate!" The water was now blessed with the holy power of the one true god. He could actually feel the bucket vibrate with power in his hands.

He walked over to where Master Greenish and Laos were talking and promtly threw the cool, blessed water all over the boy. "I cast yew out Demon!" He screamed maniacally. "I command yew in the nameless God's name, demon begone. It is he that commands yew! Leave this poor lad's body and go back to the Abyss that spawned yew!"

Elle's red eyes widened in surprise as Loas stood dripping wet. She took a step forward tentatively, What is going on NOW! She thought, not sure what to do, or if she should do anything.

She looked for Manuel...

Laos dropped his ale and froze as the chilled water hit him. He stood there wide eyed and hands out to the side of hsi body open. He just stood there a moment and turned around. "WHAT THE BLOODY "ELL DO YEW THINK YUR DOING!?! I WILL NOT GO TO THE ABYSS EITHER!!!"

Laos stared at Geoffrey then began to take off his drenched shirts. "Now I'm wet, cold and need to change...But he did get rid of my hiccups" Laos walked over to his pack and took out his spare white shirt and hung the black shirt on a tree branch.

"He's Lucky I don't slug 'im despite my cured hiccups he mumbled to himself as he walked next to Geoffrey and just looked at him with a slight stare of curiosity and amazment.

From his position, using one hand to lean against the tree, the other around his stomach, Manuel lifted his eyes from the shifting ground to follow Geoffrey's glare to Laos. Sure, the half-elf didn't trust the warrior either....Who do I trust? he wondered. Certainly no one in Haven, except, perhaps, Darta; but he even questioned her motives in helping him. Geoffrey? Probably more than anyone else, but that wasn't saying much. Elle? He didn't really know what to think about her at the moment. These thought distracted him for long enough that he didn't notice Geoffrey's departure.

It was while the priest was blessing the water that the words 'keep an eye on the girl....urgent business to attend to' registered with Manuel, and struck him as ominous. He made himself stand upright, with much spinning of his surroundings and wooziness, then turned to watch Geoffrey's progression to where Laos and the leader of the greenies were still talking. When Geoffrey emptied the pot of water over Laos' head, Manuel wasn't sure whether to laugh, or prepare himself to break up a fight.

Instead, he leaned his back against the same tree he'd been using to support himself and slowly sank down until he was sitting on the ground. Something's wrong was the phrase that was dancing around in his mind as his eyelids grew heavier, the stir caused by the surprise exorcism began to fade out. The half-elf realized suddenly what the cause of his ailments was as an unnatural haze began to envelop his senses. He cursed, angry that he'd allowed himself to be tricked so easily by the leprechauns, as he fell asleep, almost certain that he wouldn't wake up again.

Geoffrey wasn't finnished by a long shot, he began hopping on his right foot, the position of power, toward Laos. "Yes yew will fell demon, for I shall cast thee out!" He rose his hands into position and then began the chant, "Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate! Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate! Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate! Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate!" As he chanted he slowly hopped around Laos and every once in awhile he would leer out at him with his tongue stuck out and eyes crossed.

Well, it was obvious that nothing could be salvaged here. With two lunatics running loose the plan could not even begin to cope with this sort of strain. It was time to beat a hasty retreat while the gettin was still good. Shamus nodded to his man, and he in turn quickly began passing the word using casual hand signals. But in the meantime...

"A demon! By all the Gods, cast it out! Cast it out!" Shamus cried doing his best to sympathise with the madman. Taking their cue from the Master, a dozen or so of the little people began hopping on their right foot and chanting along with the brutish madman forming some sort of weird conga line. "Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate! Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate! Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate! Yug is good! Yug is great! Yug I sho do A-pre-ciate!" The confusion of the scene enabled the leprechauns to leave unnoticed one by one.

Elle could seriously not fathom what had gone wrong. Her brow came together in a frown as she felt a wave of dizziness pass over her, but she shrugged it off as a product of what happened hours earlier. Elle edged around the little people hopping about on one foot with Geoffrey as she continued to search for Manuel. It seemed as she watched that there weren't so many little poeple around, but then again that was probably due to the fact she fell asleep in the middle of a party.

Finally spotting Manual, she picked her way over to him. They were out of the way of the melee as she knelt beside him, and she had a good view of whole spectacle.

Manuel? She asked, touching his arm lightly with the tip of her fingers. How could he possibly sleep through all the noise? Manual! She said louder, quickly pushing him with the palm of her hand before quickly snatching it back. What in the name of....Yug....

Had he been in a natural sleep, Manuel would most likely have snapped into action at the light touch on his shoulder. As it was, whatever had been put in the ale to induce sleep was not going to allow him to wake up quickly. It was like he'd fallen into a lake, and was trapped under a layer of ice. He was still struggling to wake up, but there was a barrier there.

The second time Elle had touched him, Manuel's hand shot out, aiming to grip her wrist. All of the chanting and shouting, combined with the voicing of his name, and what was perceived in his sleeping mind as an assault, the half-elf had at least managed to open his eyes. Still, he wasn't fully awake, and his mind was still awfully clouded.

Mark my words well vile abomination, if yew refuse to leave this poor soul, I shall destroy the vessel that houses yew and set it free at the cost of his life!" Geoffrey grinned maniacally. Master Greenish watched in shocked dismay at the sudden violent turn of events. The little people who had been particpating in this mad ritual scattered into the surrounding woods never to be seen again leaving only Shamus and the quartet. What had first was supposed to be a simple robbery was now bordering on homicide, and unless he did something soon, somone was going to die. But what could he do? The large man was so angered no magick of his could work through that red haze.

He ran over to where Manuel and Elle were and snapped his fingers releasing the magicks that worked on the half-elf's mind and body causing him to drowse. Then ran away into the woods leaving them to deal with their own problem.

Elle gasped in dismay, and tried to jerk back her arm. His hold was unbreakable, and just bordering on the point of pain. Before she could do anything, Shamus appeared, snapped his fingers, then dissapeared. Staring in utter confusion at the retreating back of Shamus, and then at Manuel, she grabbed hold of his wrist and tried to break his hold, Manuel?

She heard Geoffrey behind her, screaming then whispering. Oh, god, he is going to kill Loas!

Manuel, please, it's me. She waved her hand in front of his face, her eyes staring into his. Manuel needed to wake up, how could she stop Geoffrey on her own?

Shamus snapped, and the magick keeping Manuel from fully waking dissipated. He blinked in confusion, he was staring into someone's eyes. The face came into focus, Elle's eyes. Why was Elle gripping his wrist so tightly? Then he realized he was holding on to her arm. The half-elf loosened his hold on the young woman as the last of the grogginess slipped from him.

Clarity returned to him in a rush and he shook his head, then hastily drew back his hand. "I'm sorry, I thought-" he paused with the realization that the elemni looked concerned. "Wha-," Manuel looked past Elle to see Geoffrey trying to throttle Laos.

"What in the Ninehells?!" the half-elf muttered to himself as he jumped his feet and sprinted towards the two. "Geoffrey, what is the matter with yew? Can yew not go a few hours without causing all Chaos to break loose? Stop that yew loony-son-of-a-goblin-bawd! Have yew completely lost yer mind?! Geoffrey! Geoffrey, listen to me! Stop that!" Manuel had tried to get the priest's attention as he approached by shouting, but to no avail. He took a deep breath then launched himself at Geoffrey's back, intending to get an elbow around the larger man's neck from behind.

He dropped his chin as soon as he felt Manuel jump on his back, instead of wrapping his elbow around his neck, Manuel now had a fairly large, beardy chin. But after being smacked by a possessed kid, Geoffrey didn't even notice the half-elf on his back. It was now officially ON!

The demon wanted to play games did it? Well Geoffrey could play games too, and he carried a huge stick! He walked over to where his staff was propped up against the lean-to they had built earlier, took it in hand, and with a carefully practised flick of his wrist, forefinger, and thumb, relased the locks upon it. "I'm sorry Laos," Geoffrey said as he turned back to the boy hopping away on his demonic left foot, and brandished the deadly sword he withdrew from its cleverly disguised scabbord. "But the demon cannot be allowed to roam free hopping upon his evil left FOOT!"

Manuel didn't even think of how ridiculous they all looked as he tried talking to Geoffrey from where he hung on to the warrior's back. "Geoffrey, stop. Yer not thinking clearly. And..." he had no idea what this had been about, so didn't know what to say to convince Geoffrey that he needed to stop, "yer frightening Elle. "

Geoffrey was not paying attention, however, and was drawing his gigantic sword. Upon seeing that the priest would not be reasoned with, Manuel produced a dagger; and aimed to club the warrior in the back of the head with the pommel, with what he thought would have been enough force to knock even Devlin unconscious. It was true, however, that Geoffrey was quite possibly the thickest-skulled individual he'd ever encountered and dagger pommels were not the greatest of bludgeoning tools.

This, the half-elf figured, was going to make Geoffrey even angrier, end the situation completely, or at least get the priest's attention. For some reason, Manuel had a feeling it would be the first; but hoped for one of the latter two. Whatever the result, Manuel quickly jumped off of Geoffrey's back, since it was doing him absolutely no good to be there, and, actually, had the potential to be quite dangerous.

Elle jumped up finally when Geoffrey produced the staff, sword, huge thing. STOP, GEOFFREY. She yelled at the top of her lungs, running to get inbetween Loas and Geoffrey. He is NOT a demon. She turned her back on Geoffrey and faced Loas who still stood on one foot. Loas, stop hopping around! Then she turned again, Manuel! She exclaimed when she saw the dagger's hilt going for the back of Geoffrey's head.

Laos ran in another direction so Elle wasn't in between him and Geoffrey then he needed a way to make him think he wasn't posessed. Laos figured jumping on his left foot angered him so he started jumping on his right foot. "Yug is good Yug is great Yug I SHo' Do appreciate!"

Still trying to be ready tp run if this plan failed Laos was on very tense and studdered a little in his speech

"HAHA!" Geoffrey bellowed and pointed toward Laos with his sword. "I finally scared the demon away! I knew once it saw a hulking, powerful servant of Yug, sword in hand, and prepared to go all the way, it would have no choice but to flee back into the Abyss. Just keep hopping on yer bless'd right foot chanting the words of power for a few more minutes boy. Make sure the evil has no chance of returning."

Geoffrey was in fine spirits now. He had finally proven himself before the eyes of Yug and the non-believers who had seen with thier own eyes the might of the one true God. Dropping his sword he hopped upon his right foot with Laos now chanting the words of power to reinforce the final stage of the exorcism.

Elle's eyes were popping out of her head. Throwing up her hands in disgust she turned and stormed back to her belongings. Plopping down cross legged she sat with arms folded glaring across at the two hopping on their one foot. She would have gladly got up and started walking away, doubting any would notice her dissapearance at the moment, but she knew her limits, and she was still exhausted. Her short sleep was not nearly enough time. So she sat and brooded, relaxing against the base of the tree and scratching at a patch of dirt on her fore-arm.

(OOC:Back! And I think I'll back-track a bit from my last post)

Upon hearing his name, Manuel's arm froze mid-blow, the dagger hilt mere inches from the back of Geoffrey's skull. While the arm where the weapon was held remained suspended where its motion had been stopped, Manuel had continued to keep his hold on Geoffrey with the other. He wasn't sure exactly why he'd stopped at what seemed to be a reproach from the short elemni, but was glad he did. 'Survival' mode, it seemed, had taken over, and though he had no desire to harm Geoffrey, it was likely he could have.

When the half-elf stood on the ground again, he watched in disbelief as the two men hopped up and down on one foot. That was what Geoffrey had been ready to kill Laos for? Hopping on the wrong foot? He'd known the priest was insane, but hadn't thought he'd be driven to kill because of it. Manuel realized that he was still holding the dagger, and quickly stored it.

Manuel wondered what would have happened had the altercation continued. The half-elf knew he would not have been able to stop the larger and stronger Geoffrey without a large amount of difficulty, if at all, and hoped nothing of the sort would happen again, or that it would at least wait to happen until he would not feel obligated to try to interfere.

Not wanting to upset Geoffrey's fragile mental state by doing anything that might disturb the closing of the "exorcism", and assuming that Elle had fallen asleep already where she had sat down against a tree trunk, Manuel kept his distance from the others. He began wandering about the area, looking for anything that might have been left by the little people in their hasty retreat.

Indeed, a great deal had been left behind by the startled leprechauns including all the roasting meats and ale. But amongst all the mess were several bundles of four leaf clovers tied together with bits of yellow yarn. What use it's for is unknowable aside from asking one of the little people.

Geoffrey conitnued hopping and chanting for an additional twenty minutes and made sure laos did the same. It was dark by then and the only light amongst the trees came from the cooking fires left by the little people. But no demon could return after the righteous right foot hopping they had done and at last Geoffrey felt safe to stop it. He felt very good about the whole affair, and even happier that he didn't have to kill Laos although he would have it came right down to it. He felt good about that too, after all he would be sending the boy to the Heaven and the demon straight back to the Abyss.

"Yew've done a good thing here today, lad," spoke the gravely voice of an angel just behind him with a puff of cigar smoke."Yew've turned a corner on yer road to faith and proven yer worth to Yug and the worlde. Yer finally ready for what is to come."

Geoffrey smiled with pride just before his stomach rumbled abiminabley. The smell of the roasting meats was finally getting to him.

While wandering the camp, Manuel realized a lot of food and ale had been left by the leprechauns. He was very hungry by now, and the roasting meat smelled great, but after his run-in with the spiked ale, Manuel wasn't going to eat any of it. After a bit of debate, he decided not to pick up one of the bundles of fourleaf clovers. After searching the area as thoroughly as he could stand, Manuel sat beside the remnants of a fire and tried to relax a little.

Manuel was glad when the chanting finally stopped. The first two minutes or so he'd just been happy Geoffrey's mood had improved, then until five minutes into the hopping it had begun to get old, after that until the two had been saying the same thing for ten minutes he'd actually been curious to see how long it would continue, and for the last half of the "ceremony" it'd just been annoying.

Laos stopped hopping a few minutes after Geoffrey to be sure all was clear with the "demon" and felt the ale swishing around in his stomach with nothing else, then the hunger went through him no doubt caused by the aromas wafting about the camp from the meats set and left by the lepprechauns.

Laos looked around the camp and took some meat off of a fire and took a seat around the same fire as Manuel in hope of having the whole group join together and share information about themselves.

Manuel didn't budge from where he reclined against a log by the fire when Laos approached. The large elf had definitely earned bonus points for his handling of the Geoffrey situation, as far as the half-elf was concerned, if Laos had been planning on betraying the group, he would have long since been gone. It probably wouldn't have been worth whatever reward he would get to be throttled by a huge and insane warrior/priest, then have to hop on one foot while repeating some ridiculous chant for twenty minutes straight.

"Tired?" he asked with a grin and slight chuckle as Laos sat down, holding some of the meat the greenies had left roasting.

Elle had done her best to ignore the most longest, insane, strange thing she had ever seen two people do. Now that she had woken up, she could not find it in herself to fall back asleep just yet. She stood and hefted her things and went to sit by the fire in which Loas had just joined Manuel.

She sat down, and gave them each a tired smile. She hadn't heard Loas's whispered words and so didn't answer or expect either one to say anything. SHe just sat back on her hands, for the first time all day, really started to relax. Perhaps Geoffrey's craziness was over for the night.

Geoffrey walked over to the others after waving goodbye to the angel. "Yep," he said as he sliced off a healthy chunk of venison from a raosting spit and sat down. "Nothing like a successful exorcism to work up an apetite!" He bit into the meat and chowed down. He chewed stoically for a moment, and then swallowed. "That was close one though, whew! Thanks be to Yug for sending the angel to alert me to yer plight my boy, otherwise yew would have been hooping on yer evil left foot while yew slit our throats in our sleep. Demons are sneaky that way. But yew don't have to thank me, son. It was my duty to relieve yew of the evil burden." He gave Laos a friendly clap hard on the back.

"Not many people know about the duality of the feet," he continued after another bite. "But that's understandable. It's one of the secrets the Gods never bothered to ask Yug about before they booted him out of heaven. Ya see, Yug created us in his image, and like Yug we have both good and evil within us. This is best symbolised by the feet. The right foot is good, and the left is evil. Simple as that, so when yew kept hopping on yer left foot like that I knew that yew were still possessed because a demon cannot hop on his right foot!" To him it was plain as day, and he chuckled a bit in retrospect. "I'm thirsty! Is there any of that ale left?"

As he finished whispering Laos noticed Elle had taken a seat. Laos nodded and smiled back, and as soon as he took a bite of venison he felt a huge palm slam into his back which almost made Laos spit the meat out from the shock and emense power of the gesture. But Laos chewed and nodded to Geoffrey in a thankful manner.

As geoffrey spoke Laos felt himself fall into the lull of saftey and relaxation. But he did remember he needed to ask these people about themselves, although it did take a back seat to eating and getting calmed down.

The answer Manuel was about to give after Laos' whispered question, surprisingly in defense of Geoffrey's sanity (or lack there of), was silenced by Elle's arrival. Having begun to lean forward slightly in order to reply, Manuel again leaned back against the log, returning Elle's smile with one of his own. It conveyed mild surprise at the fact that she was still able to keep her eyes opened after all of the energy she'd exerted that day.

"I never would have thought of it that way," Manuel said with well-faked interest after Geoffrey's lecture on the dualities of feet, though he'd stopped listening after the third time Yug had been mentioned. He chose to ignore the priest's inquiry as to the presence of ale at the camp as he plucked a nearbye twig off of the ground, stuck the very end into the fire, and thoughtfully watched it burn.

Elle just blinked. What could she possibly say? Certainly nothing enlightening, considering this Yug-god was becoming more and more fanciful by the moment. An evil left foot? That confirmed it, Geoffrey was indeed crazy, insane, not in touch with reality, whatever one might call it.

Elle looked back at the fire, not uttering a word. She was growing sleepy again, and curled up next to the fire, with her head pillowed on her pack. She figured if the group decided to move anytime tonight, well they would either have to carry her again, or leave her. Either way, she figured she could deal with whatever it was when the time came.

A second later and she was sleeping deeply, her breathing even.

Laos could elaborate on how he'd come to be in Aniada, or not, Manuel didn't really expect him to.

"I am from the City of Haven," he wasn't all that excited about the fact. "Upper 'Netta." He turned his head for a moment to where Geoffrey was still searching for ale, wondering if all of the noise was really necessary, then back to Laos.

Stealth wasn't on Geoffrey's mind at all while looking for something to drink. He did manage to find a keg of ale left over, the very one he and the others had been drinking from as a matter of fact. It was at this time his armor decided to shift its appearance from the black studded leather it had apeared to be all this day to a frilly white ball-gown complete with hoop skirt. Manuel had been fighting laughter quite successfully until Geoffrey's matter-of-fact response. He couldn't help but laugh quietly at that, but only for a short time.

The half-elf had no idea what Geoffrey was talking about. Work? Help them with what?

"That doesn't sound like a guy helping us, Geoffrey," Manuel spoke slowly. "It sounds like us helping him, and getting paid for it. I am not sure what work yer thinking needs to be done in Terajin, and I don't know this man, but..." the fire flared up suddenly, and, though he'd appeared to be completely relaxed, Manuel was on his feet before the flame had gone down again.

"Well....." he began as to whether Geoffrey had steered him wrong. Still, he knew he'd probably end up following Geoffrey anyway. Though he'd given the appearance of being asleep, Manuel had been alert throughout the night, listening for anything that might be dangerous approaching the group, or more greenies. When he no longer heard Geoffrey moving about, he sat up and took over the watch. Something about everyone being asleep and unprotected made him uneasy, everything about it actually.

The half-elf had drifted off into an extremely light sleep at some time a couple of hours before the others had awakened. When he heard Elle and Geoffrey moving about, Manuel sat up and rubbed his eyes, wincing at the pain that he felt in the hand that had been used the day before to punch that Daelows guardsman. Upon closer inspection, he saw that the hand was also very bruised and slightly swollen. Nothing life threatening, he decided.

Slowly, he got to his feet and stretched. For the moment, Manuel did not notice that Laos' blanket was on fire.

Manuel had been rubbing the wrist of his swollen hand absently when he heard a splash of water. He turned, readying himself to find another one of Geoffrey's exorcism rituals, but was relieved to see a whisp of smoke rising from Laos' blanket instead. It seemed Geoffrey's quick thinking had saved the eroshen breed from catching fire.

"I..." he'd started to answer Elle's question when Laos had sprung up from where he'd been sleeping. The elf was, understandably, not happy, but Manuel wasn't exactly in the mood for this sort of thing at the moment.

The half-elf sensed Laos' annoyance, and that annoyed him. Manuel was tired, hungry, had a headache the size of the one Geoffrey should have had after drinking all of that ale the night before, and was not in the mood for another fight to break out between the priest and warrior elf. Nothing about his expression, which was one that had discouraged many of the most fearless assassins of Haven from bothering him, suggested that it would be a good idea to cross Manuel at the moment.

"He did it to keep this," here the half-elf held up Laos' blanket, which was scorched from the fire, "from happening to yew." Manuel spoke calmly, but his tone was clearly warning Laos against taking any further action against Geoffrey. "Now, for the love of the Gods, would yew calm yerself down so we can get out of here?"

The half-elf did not move as he watched for what Laos would do next. He hoped that maybe Laos would have some sense and think about what he was doing before anything was started. At the very least, maybe Laos would remember how easily Geoffrey could have killed him last nightand be discouraged from a fight.

She felt like her old self again...well certainly not her old self, but physically she felt like she could do couple of back flips. Energy was coursing through her veins and she wanted to DO something.

She looked down at herself and grimaced, what she would love to do was take a bath and change out of her dirty clothes. Wrinkling her nose a bit in distaste she starting pacing around the fire. Well, I for one have had enough rest, and I would like to get as far away from Daelows as possible. Like on the other side of the worlde...far away. She said, rolling her shoulders again. Well, I suppose that is a BIT dramatic, but still...Terajin? She said and spun to face them, placing hands on hips, her eyebrows raised in question.

Manuel nodded at Laos' expressed gratitude, his annoyance fading away as quickly as it'd come. It was replaced by a feeling of self-reproach and less unapproachable expression. Since the elf's arrival, Manuel had not exactly treated Laos very well, he reflected. He'd distrusted the man, and, most likely, for no reason at all. Maybe he should apologize? Well, he wouldn't have known how to go about it, and now really wasn't the time anyway.

The half-elf again found that he had to remind himself that this was not Haven. These people were to be companions, they were not, as far as he knew, the thieves and assassins he was used to working with. If he would try not treating them as such, it would probably not lead to his immediate death. He should trust them until given a reason not to, instead of constantly being on his guard. It'd be on his list of things to work on, right under staying awake today, finding something to eat that was not left behind by a leprechaun, figuring out what, if anything, was wrong with his hand; and trying to be in a better mood.

"I think we're rested well enough," Manuel concurred with Elle on moving as soon as possible. Still, he still wasn't clear enough on the plan of action to know whether or not Terajin was still the destination.

Geoffrey was oblivious to recent events, even the outburst by Laos had went unknown. Instead, he had been scolding the angel. "Dang it!" he yelled at a clump of grass that he thought was an angel. "This isn't the time for Tom-foolery! That boy could have burned alive, and that would have been a shame after exorcising that demon last night! For once the power of Yug was shown to these people and a spark of doubt ignited in their hearts, and yew think it's funny the boy almost burned up!"

"Yer right of course," said the angel inbetween bouts of laughter. But even yew have to admit soaking that poor lad again was funny!"

Geoffrey nodded, "Yeah, it was wasn't it?" he tried to supress a chuckle and failed miserabley. "Well, come on twinkle toes! We got work to do." He then turned around to the others, his white ball gown fluttering in the breeze. "That's right Elle, we're going to Terajin. The word of Yug's comming needs spreading, and there are thousands there who will harken to them!"

Laos looked over to Geoffrey as he laughed and became slightly angry again, but Laos didn't want to fight him over a little cold water. SO instead of fighting Laos decided to fold his clothes up and placed thm in his bag along with his blanket then he put his pack on hsi shoulders. "So we're leaving now I take it."

Elle just blinked, she just now noticed Geoffrey's change of clothing...if that is what one would call it. She wanted to ask him where he found it, how it fit, and what the h*ll was he doing in it.

Shaking her head in perplexity, she just picked up her pack and swung it over her shoulders than noticed her bow and arrows were missing. She looked around widly then noticed them laying by a tree. Hurrily grabbing them up she grinned. When they stop for the night, she would hunt a rabbit or whatever was handy.

She swung back around to them, more then ready to start marching. She felt revitalized. When she had a moment to think by herself, she might question what really happened to her in Daelows.

Manuel watched Geoffrey speak to a clump of grass, both curious as to what exactly the priest was seeing and horrified that this was the man they were relying on for directions to Terajin. Still, he judged, Geoffrey was perfectly normal, apart from being extremely delusional. As far as Manuel could tell, things like Geoffrey's intelligence and memory were not affected by his craziness. They should be alright.

"Lead on, then, Geoffrey," Manuel said, suppressing a yawn. He'd doused the fire with another ever-handy kettle from the greenie camp, not carried with his swollen hand, then kicked some dirt on the ashes to make sure it was out. The half-elf was already carrying what possesions he had, and really wanted to be out of the forest as soon as possible.

Elle wondered if Geoffrey knew how to get to Terajin, since he was just talking to a clump of grass, but she assumed that Manuel was sane enough and if he was willing to follow Geoffrey, well, she might as well to.

Nodding, she shifted the pack on comfortably set the straps.

Im ready. She said, her lips lifting in a small smile.

They sat in a small circle, hidden from the sight of those who might pass nearby simply by the number of trees, once they were 10, now they were 8 and a difficult task was ahead of them.

"She's moved" Ygorith said.

The others said nothing, there was no need, it was not time to act just yet, but it neared and all felt the end of their mortality close, but it was enough to know that they would halt, or at least slow down a threat to almost every living being on the Worlde.

They went back to their meditation, restoring lost energies that would be critical for the battle ahead, the timing had to be right, for the window was small in which the elfwitch would be vulnerable again.

"It's time" Ygorith said.

As one the 8 Wolvians stood and faced towards a distant peak at which it was clear that an event of great magnitute was already occurring.

Ygorith summoned his spell and mist formed, the 8 Wolvians entered the mists to travel the Spiritual highways.
