The History Of Worlde Arcane

by R.W. Felty

Until the beginning of the Cycle of the Seventh Moon, over five centuries years ago, Worlde Arcane was ruled by the evil fist of the Dark Underlord. When the time appeared at its bleakest, a glimmer of hope came in the form of a shipwreck near the port community of Seven Oaks on Aniada. There a man of pure blood and impeccable character pulled himself ashore and recovered through the concealed hospitality of the citizens of Seven Oaks. Soon, he began to devise a plan to rally the people of the Lands and defeat the Dark Underlord.

Organizing the Warring Nations -- Orcs, Skyldings, and Daelows Umans, among others -- and leading them to war against the Dark Underlord and his minions, the man became known to the people as the Reclaimer. The war lasted a full year and took thousands of lives on both sides. Finally, through the aid of a wise Wizard, the Reclaimer's liberating armies turned back the forces of evil during an epic battle on Dragon's Peak. The Reclaimer and the Wizard confronted the Dark Underlord on the very summit of the mountain. There, in a colossal clash of primal magick that nearly wrenched the mountain itself into pieces, the Dark Underlord was flung back into his deep dominion below the Underneath, and the Empty Gate was sealed.

The afterglow of magick outside the Gate seeped into much of the Underneath, causing many mutations, and remaining even now in the darker corners of the Worlde. After the Reclaimer's victory, the lands became divided and segmented once again, as the factions settled back into rebuilding their homes. But all are still wary of the Dark Underlord's final words as he passed through the Gate: "A thousand years, and all will burn!" ... and that time is nigh upon us. Even now there have been reports of strange happenings within the Lands.
